Sewer and Foundation Drain Investigations

Drain InvestigationsTech has the technology and expertise to perform the inspection of drain systems such as sewer lines and foundation drains (aka French drains). These systems are subject to blockages that can cause serious problems for the building and its occupants, additionally, repairs can be inconvenient and costly.

Some of the most common issues with these drain systems are:

  • Corrosion or degradation of the pipe material
  • Root penetration
  • Displacement of connections
  • Cracks
  • Crushing or caving in
  • Dips causing debris to accumulate
  • Defective or missing back flow valves
  • Red ochre (blocking French drains)

When ports are accessible the inspection can usually be done within less than two hours and  the condition of the system recorded on video to allow for more detailed examination of any irregularities. If necessary, we can perform exploratory excavations on the exterior to access foundation drain systems.

We are also equipped with locating equipment that allows us to pinpoint with accuracy where issues exist in the line so that interventions can be performed more efficiently.

In the case of red ochre formation or blockage we can arrange for the installation of cleaning chimneys that will provide necessary access to clean the foundation drain system and maintain its functionality.
